Description
This round is recommended for Target, Plinking, Varmit and Self Defense and or Training applications.
The CTX SMASHER™ was designed specifically for the 450 Bushmaster.
Instead of mushrooming, these frangible rounds are designed to activate on striking solid objects at speed, like steel plates and can be used for frangible training exercises. When striking objects like steel, they activate and fragment into tiny frangible pieces.
On soft tissue, this round will punch through leaving a projectile size hole or brake into large chunks which tumble (See our test videos at 100 yards after striking 1/4 plywood).
We do not recommend this round for game animals due to the fact, it does not mushroom and will not leave a large wound cavity other than where the projecile passed through. This is similar to CTX Migration Round (See the High Speed Gel Tests).
This load runs at an AMV FPS of 1987 and is deadly accurate at 100 yards holding a 1” or less group with AR platforms and bolt rifles. Due to this speed and the material it is made of, it is very pleasant to shoot because it doesn't have a strong recoil which means this is great for a day at the range! This round was developed with a large body to reduce bullet jump in AR platforms when the round is chambered from the magazine which the AR 450 Bushmaster is known for. This round will also function bolt action rifles and is extremely accurate in bolt guns.
This round has been tested in the following rifles and has achieved accuracy of 1" or less at 100 yards:
1. Standard 450 Bushmaster AR15 Upper
2. Ruger American Bolt Action
3. Performance Firearms AR15 Upper
